A well-chosen glove should suit both your hands and the way you train. This guide brings together the weight and fit notes from our homepage glove comparison, with clear distinctions between general guidance and model-specific details.

Glove weight and hand fit are different

Ounces (oz) describe glove weight, not a universal hand size. A 14oz glove is not automatically a medium. Hand compartments, wrist openings and padding profiles can differ between models, even at the same weight.

Select from the sizes available on the individual product page. For sparring, confirm your coach's or gym's required glove weight and approved glove type before ordering. Weight alone does not establish sparring suitability.

Urban HAYMAKER

Our homepage comparison lists 12–14oz for training and 16oz for sparring in the HAYMAKER range. These are model-specific training-use notes, not hand measurements or a recommendation for every boxer. Check the weight offered on the particular listing and follow your gym's rules.

Junior and youth gloves

Our comparison includes Urban Mini Junior, Junior 6oz and Youth 8oz models. Choose a junior or youth design rather than treating a lighter adult glove as an equivalent fit. Check the exact product's guidance and have your coach confirm suitability; age labels alone do not guarantee fit.

Compare the fit of different models

The following notes come from our homepage comparison. They describe design characteristics, not measured hand-size ranges.

• Urban RAPTA: room for wraps, a ventilated palm and wrist strap.
• Urban Gold Skulls 12oz: a soft fit and slender wrist fit.
• Trophy Getters: a snug fit with moulded padding and wrist support.
• Mexican ELITE: a snug fist fit with balanced padding and wrist support.
• Siam 16oz: a wide protective profile. This does not establish the dimensions of its internal hand compartment.

Check your fit with hand wraps

Assess the glove with the wraps you normally train in. Your fingers and thumb should sit comfortably, with a secure wrist closure and no painful pressure, numbness or excessive movement. You should be able to form a natural fist without forcing your hand into position.

Do not assume that the same ounce label will feel identical across different models. Where a product provides a measurement chart, use that model's measuring instructions.

Hybrid gloves, bag mitts and MMA gloves

These designs need their own model-specific fit guidance. Do not use a boxing-glove weight as a universal size conversion, or apply a Hybrid Punchfit chart to a Mil Spec hybrid or another model. Check the exact product listing for its size options, intended use and fit notes.
